Brie’s
Buddies is
a non-profit organization which I founded when I was 13 years old,
with the help of my family and friends.
I had the
privilege of attending several camps for pediatric oncology patients.
At first I was very reluctant to attend. The doctors and
staff at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia thought it would
be a very positive experience for me.
I have attended
the Ronald McDonald Camp, Camp No Worries and Camp
Happy Times. I was very impressed with the various daily activities
that the camps provided. The counselors are vibrant, energetic, compassionate
people who volunteer their own time in order to give current or previous
oncology patients an opportunity to be a kid again. These camps provide
a comforting environment in which the campers are able to build their
self-esteem, their confidence and lifelong friendships. |

The camps are free of charge to the campers. These
camps depend on donations in order to provide these services for
the children. I wanted to give back to the camps and make sure that
other children could have the same experiences that I have had. This
started out as a dream of mine, with the help of family and friends
I am proud to be able to contribute to programs that are able to
give pediatric oncology patients a chance to be a kid again.
Thank you to everyone who has helped and continues
to help make my dream come true. |
